ATLARGE Music Film Festival

Rob created and co-Founded The ATLARGE Music Film Festival with Jason Staten in 2017. 'A Film Festival For People Who Love Music' serves to fill the hole where so many great films that are driven by music (documentaries, biopics, musicals, music video's, etc) often either have short theatrical runs, or fly completely under the radar. These films demand to be seen on the big screen with a like-minded audience as a concert-like experience. In the first year, we curated 24 films and put together 12 workshops. Based in Atlanta and anchored with our partner, Georgia State Unieversity, year two is set for October 2018. Sponsors have included Night Flight and Deep Space Radio. Talent have included filmmakers Jodi Wille, Erik Von Haessler, Gerald Barclay and Academy Award winner Ellen Kuras and a live score performance by DJ Spooky.

Trudell

Rob served as Executive Producer helping to raise funds, create the vision/mission of the film, create the World Premiere party at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, co-create the branding/design of collateral, website and merchandise (apparel) for the film and assisted in managing the World Festival tour. Trudell toured 40 international festivals including Sundance, Tribeca and Silverdocs and won awards at the Seattle Film Festival, in Los Angeles at the Artivist Film Festival and at the oldest American film festival-The Native American Film Festival in San Francisco. Trudell was released theatrically to 60 U.S. cities in 2006. It has aired on PBS and the Sundance channel and continues to tour the globe. John Trudell is a poet, musician, actor, and political activist who has been speaking out on behalf of the Native American people with intelligence and passion since the late '60s. Trudell took part in the 1969 occupation of Alcatraz Island by the activist group Indians of All Tribes, who intended to use the former prison as a school for Native American youth. Trudell eventually became chairman of the American Indian Movement (AIM), which would become the most visible and powerful Native American activist group. During his activist years, Trudell amassed a 17,000 page FBI file in which he is described as "extremely eloquent, therefore extremely dangerous". Trudell turned to poetry and into the realm of social theorist and philosopher to help him express his grief over the death of his family and his concerns over the state of America. He began recording a series of albums that combined lyrics confronting political and personal issues with music that touched on blues, rock, and Native American themes. To this day, John Trudell remains a powerful voice in both political and creative circles.

Through the company that he co-founded (MESH Inc.), Rob was tasked with manning the helm of the Cuervo Gold Beach Volleyball Tour from '94-2000, managing a $1.5 million budget. We grew the event into the largest beach volleyball tour in North America and helped to grow the sport into its apex of popularity. We offered the most prize money of any tour and were the only volleyball tour of the time (and one of the select few sports competitions) that offered equal prize money to men and women. We packaged television coverage on FOX Sports with worldwide distribution. Sales increased every year in-market during the Tour and our reputation for creating some of the best Pro-Am beach volleyball events remains to this day. Co-sponsors we brought in included Rolling Stone Magazine, Tissot Swiss Watches, Klipsh Audio, Fiji Water, Clearly Canadian Beverages and Wilson Sports.

Little Black Dress

Rob co-created the concept and launched the fashion event fundraiser by challenging LA based designers to come up with their interpretation of the 'perfect little black dress'. A women's closet staple, this mandate leveled the playing field for designers of all levels and showcased the works of Richard Tyler, Michelle Mason, Trina Turk, Pamela Barish and Monah Li to name a few. Liza Richardson (KCRW) was our host DJ for our 1,000 attendees and the event took place at the beautiful Cicada Restaurant in downtown LA. All proceeds for the event went to the charitable organization Stop Cancer. Sponsors included Audi, LA Weekly and Los Angeles Magazine.

Rob gavlanized and organized visionaries Daniel Pinchbeck, Erik Davis, Erika Rand, Dan Siegel and David Latimer to create Evolver Magazine. Evolver's mission was to create a media platform committed to transformative, new-edge culture. Evolver magazine was part of larger plan to develop a eco-friendly focused membership organization ("AARP for the green world"). It was a grand ambition that ultimately birthed EVO.COM, Evolver.net and Reality Sandwich. Through grass-roots outreach we received over 800,000 page views on Evolver.net in a 6-month span and it is always gratifying to hear how far reaching and influential the prototype magazine turned out to be.
